When it comes to cheap mountain bikes, prices can run from less than one hundred dollars all the way up to several thousands. You just have to know where to look, have a little patience, and be persistent in your search.
One of the best places to find cheap mountain bikes is at local garage sales in your neighborhood. People have been known to find a high quality carbon fiber or titanium frame mountain bike for less than a hundred dollars! I can only dream about finding such a bargain. Garage sales are such a hit and miss proposition. You can only get to a relatively few each weekend. It is very time consuming. And I would much rather spend my time hitting the trails on my bike than combing the city streets.
I have found that searching online for cheap mountain bikes is much more productive and efficient. Craigslist and Ebay are my two favorite places to shop. Craigslist is like searching the local garage sales from your computer. But it is still a little difficult because you can only search in one city or geographical area at a time.
I much prefer Ebay with its different levels of search options. I have even found a free website built just for searching and monitoring for cheap mountain bikes on Ebay. It's completely free and they don't even require any signup. Check it out for yourself at http://www.mountainbikingtoday.com/ebay.php - it’s really cool.
